Pola Rader is an award-winning director, photographer and media artist with Russian roots, who now resides in Germany.
2004-2009 she obtained a teaching degree for English and French philology at the Murmansk Arctic State University.
Then she moved to Germany, where in 2014 she completed her bachelor degree in film and theatre studies from the Free University of Berlin.
In 2019 Rader graduated from the MA Film course at University of the Fine Arts Hamburg.
In her eye-catching work Pola engages with social related issues using film, photography and media art as her main mediums of expression.
Pola Rader’s vivid surreal art invites us into a magical world combining elements from different cultures and times.
Her conceptual motion designs, films or photography balance on the edge of beauty and weirdness creating a genuine kind of visual poetry.
Rader is on the board of the association "Filmkultur Schleswig-Holstein eV." and curator of the Short Film Festival "Lokale Held'innen" in Kiel, Germany. She also participates in the Project "Kinolino", including film talks and screenings for children since 2017.
